Event description

Safer Care Victoria (SCV) regularly convenes the Quality and Safety Leaders forum to share important quality and safety work happening in Victoria. The format of previous forums has mainly been through presentations delivered by SCV and from health services, with opportunities for questions and a networking opportunity following the presentations.

We need your help

For our March 2023 forum we are trying a different approach to collaboratively explore and understand an evident decrease in staff perception of safety culture since the onset of the pandemic. Our aim is to identify potential levers for change that will support safety culture improvement in the Victorian health care system.

Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020, pandemic prevention has become a priority for staff in health services in Victoria and around the world. As we transition out of the acute COVID-19 response phase we are seeing some improvement in areas relating to patient outcomes and patient satisfaction, however, the way staff are reporting about the safety culture in their organisations is alarmingly, continuing to fall.

Safety culture is strongly linked to patient safety outcomes. Safety culture is defined as the values, beliefs, and norms that are shared by healthcare practitioners and other staff throughout the organization as they relate to patient safety that influence their actions and behaviours.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
