Lighthouse for the Community
Lighthouse exists to walk hand in hand with families who want to move forward from their domestic violence situation and experience. Our service was founded in November 2009 under the name SMS Lighthouse, Single Mums Support, to walk hand in hand with single mums and their children who were victims of domestic violence. This reflected the origins of our service as a response to our CEO’s personal experience as a domestic violence survivor and her desire to see others with a similar experience become overcomers. Through our Moving Forward Program, these clients are given a hand up and out of their domestic violence situation to one where they are thriving in life and becoming contributing members of the community. Since 2009 our service has expanded beyond the initial focus of single mum's to supporting anyone impacted by domestic violence including the extended family unit.
