Event description

A spatialised string orchestra, surround sound electronics and a solo violin bring Natasha Anderson's new work, Quartzopolis to life.

Seated amongst the performers on the floor of Castlemaine Town Hall, the audience will be enveloped by the fusion of acoustic and electronic harmonies. The coding of both digital synthesis and ancient symbolism combines to render shifting, electroacoustic geometries.

Ten groups of orchestral musicians and a centrally-placed violin soloist, Lizzy Welsh, spaced between 5 encircling loudspeakers, envelope the audience……

Seating on chairs provided, or bring a cushion and sit on the floor.

This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through Creative Australia, its arts funding and advisory body, and by Creative Victoria.
