Year 10 to Year 12 Queensland Parliament education program 2026

Our education program provides Legal Studies students with the opportunity to engage with the work of the Legislative Assembly, understand how Queensland Parliament operates and the role the government plays in shaping law to reflect societal demands.

What's involved? 

This program will see your students: 

• Learn key legal concepts such as representative government, responsible government, separation of powers doctrine and unicameralism.

• Explore and analyse the law-making process through a role play.

• View the Legislative Assembly in action (sitting days only). 

• Discover the architectural features and history of Parliament House.

• Meet your member of parliament (subject to availability).

Who

• Year 10, 11 or 12 students studying Legal Studies or Social and Community Studies 

Group size 

• We have a maximum capacity of 70 students.

Duration

• 3 hours

• 9.30am to 12.30pm, with a 9.15am arrival time.

Pre-visit requirements or prior knowledge

• None

Morning tea

• Students are asked to bring a small snack to enjoy during their visit.

Other important information

• Dates and program are subject to change. 

• There may be another school (or schools) taking part in the program alongside you.

• All supervising staff and students must pass through security screening to enter the parliamentary precinct. 

• All supervising adults must bring a Government Issued Photo ID (a precinct entry requirement). 

• Some photography restrictions apply. 

• Schools or educational institutions must supply their own interpreter if required.
