Queer* Ball 2025: Iridescence

Join us at Iridescence: a night to shimmer, sparkle, and celebrate every shade of queer joy, pride, and identity with the ANU Queer* community.

This year's Queer* Ball is an opportunity for queer or questioning people and their partners to dress up, have fun, and express their identity in a safe, inclusive environment. It will be held from 7-11pm on Friday 8 August at the Canberra Rex Hotel.

• Non-alcohol Tickets: $44

• Equity & Indigenous Tickets: free.

Fundraising:

Through this event, the Department is fundraising for organisations that are doing important work for the queer community. Of the profits we make from the event, 40% will be donated to A Gender Agenda, 40% to Rainbow Mob, and 20% to the Forcibly Displaced People's Network.

Autonomy:

The ANU Queer* Department is hosting a ball for queer or questioning students at the ANU. The event is also open to non-queer partners of queer or questioning students at the ANU and queer or questioning members of the Canberra community.

Accessibility information:

The Queer* Ball will be taking place at the Canberra Rex Hotel, located at 150 Northbourne Ave, Canberra City, ACT 2612. Guests are welcome to get dropped off in front of the hotel lobby: there are two lanes, however, guests should park on the right hand side (for set down only). Accessible parking is available on the left hand side of the hotel and is partially covered. Parking starts at the end of the driveway at the southern end of the hotel. There is also street parking available behind the hotel on Henty St, as well as overflow parking at the Canberra Accommodation Centre (210 Northbourne Ave, 50m walk from Rex Hotel). The nearest public transport is the Ipima St light rail stop, or alternatively, is a 10-15 minute walk from the City bus interchange. Once you get to the venue, you will find the Ball on the ground floor in the Great Room off the foyer. There will be a designated quiet space in the boardroom, which is also accessible off the foyer. There are gender neutral and accessible toilets available.
