The botanical world is diverse in all senses of the word. Flowering plants have both stamens (male) and stigma (female) parts, some species are binary, whilst others transition between, depending on the temperature!
Plants have also been symbols for LGBTIQA+ groups throughout history. A green carnation was worn by Oscar Wilde to secretly indicate he was gay, classical Greek poet Sappho waxed lyrically about a female lover adorning herself with violets... and have you thought about plants who display their glamourous blooms only at night? Such drag-divas!
