Queer CampOUT - Tahoe National Forest

Branching Out Adventures is hosting the 4th annual Queer CampOUT at Wild Plum Campground in Sierra City, CA. Attending this event means a weekend of queer community, thoughtful conversation, romping around the woods, and celebrating queer joy! The weekend will include activities like hiking, yoga, river exploration, games, open mic night, and celbrating the joy that is being queer outside!

Waivers/Registration: All participants must be registered individually and have approved the online waiver through this page.

Meeting Location: Wild Plum Campground, Sierra City, CA

Carpooling: The campsites are allocated a total of 6 vehicles so carpooling is encouraged. There is additional space in an overflow parking lot with a 10$ parking fee.

Accessibility: There is little to no cell service all around the campground as well as the surrounding areas. Participants can expect to walk up to 4 miles, go over rocky terrain, and uneven surfaces. Water spigots and pit toilets are available in the campground. Please visit the campground's website for full details on what is available within the campground.

What to Bring:

We understand that not all participants may not have everything listed below and that is not a problem whatsoever! Our community has extra supplies, access to gear libraries, and are willing to share with one another. Please contact our team at admin@branchingoutadv.org by 6/30/2024 to confirm any needed supplies.

• Tent
• Sleeping bag
• Sleeping pad
• Clothes and shoes that you feel comfortable hiking in
• Clothes to swim in if desired
• Your own food for 3 dinners, 3 breakfasts, and 3 lunches as well as means to cook it.
• Sun protection (sunscreen, sun hat)
• Camp chair
• Games (optional)
• Musical instruments (optional)
• Hammock (optional)

Cancellations:

In the event that we must cancel an adventure due to extreme weather conditions or poor air quality, the team will reach out via email no later than 5:00 PM, 3 days prior to this event.

Branching Out Adventures encourages people from all identities and backgrounds to participate in our programs. Many of our programs are outdoors and involve moving in a variety of landscapes. If you have accessibility concerns (e.g. allergies, limited mobility, learning differences), our projects are flexible and we are happy to work with you.
