“Joy is an act of Resistance” Toi Derricotte
We live in a time when the rights of LGBTIQA+ people all over the world are being threatened and wound back. When Drag bans are commonplace, trans rights are a shameful political football and even our marriage rights are once again up for debate. Now, more than ever, joy must be part of our resistance - when we cower and lose our shine, we do the oppressor’s work for them.
Come and celebrate QUEER JOY with beloved comedian Nelly Thomas and a suite of merry humans to celebrate IDAHOBIT: The International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersex discrimination and Transphobia. Last year we heard moving stories of IVF success, sexy dates, the joys of finding a clean-freak to share life with and, the delight brought to the life of children by Guncles (Gay Uncles). This year will prove every bit as joyful and up-lifting.
Tune out the noise (for just a minute) and sit with some our best comedians and speakers in community, love and joy.
I promise it will help sustain and uplift.
