Event description

Visual art from the diverse communities in our queer family. Drawing from artists across this Great South land. GGG & BLAKLASH present QUEER art with a LUSH First Nations DEADLY perspective.

Featuring major QUEER artists, Indigenous and from the broader community, mainstream and alternative. Winners of QUEENS BALL Artist of the year, QUEER HERE [QCAD/PRIDE INC], TROPICAL FRUITS, GGG's PRIDE BC FEMME ICON PORTRAIT AWARD, past art exhibitions locally.

This will give audiences a unique original perspective of the National QUEER art scene, presenting artists from across the continent together, internationally renowned alongside the up and coming and still rising young/early career artists.

A special feature of this exhibition will be artists from the TIWI ISLANDS including Nicola [Miller] Mungatopi, Andre Tipungwati and Crystal Love! who are cultural Elders of the Tiwi sistergirl community - truly SISTARS!

Opening night Thursday 24th October will feature artists talks, live performances and artist markets in the open air courtyard behind the Blaklash office and Aboriginal Art Co. shared space in Fortitude Valley.

For a night of inclusive culture [no doubt there WILL be DRAG QUEENS] and a month of stimulating art this will be a highlight of MELT OPEN.
