Queer Social Footscray: Sculpting the Human Body with Maddy
Event description
Queer socials are community events that are half social chats with a bunch of like minded queer people and half fun, educational and interactive workshop. All workshops are taught by queers, for queers.
Come and explore clay sculpting! In this class we'll learn the basics of creating a small torso of the human figure.
The human figure is all about curves! Whether you're sculpting a human shape that is full figured or slight, the key to sculpting the body is in its curves.
At the end of the workshop you will walk away with new skills and a hand made sculptural artwork to adorn your home!
What we will cover?
In this fun, hands-on workshop you will learn:
- Techniques to sculpt with air-dry clay
- How to use different sculpting tools
- An introduction to anatomy and the scale of the human body
Who will be teaching?
Maddy (she/her) is a crafty hobbyist based in Narrm who has a big heart for colour, expression and over-the-top jewellery. She enjoys working with all sorts of materials and mediums, and repurposing everyday items into expressions of art and fashion. As a musician, these wonky and not-so-wonky creations often find their way onto stages around Melbourne.
Maddy also enjoys carving and printing lino cuts, paper collage, and combining the two.
