Queer Writer's Workshop - Pathways to Publishing
What type of feedback is useful? How to produce a work without losing its original value along the way?
Join us for an interactive session covering options and opportunities to bring your stories to light.
Authors Claire Hiria Dunning, Jamie Sands and Jade du Preez will share their experiences on avenues taken within the industry, encourage reflection on your personal projects, and discuss common questions around the writing life. If you're a queer writer in search of community, this one's for you!
Presenters:
- Claire Hiria Dunning (she/her, they/them, ia) is an award-winning author, game writer and playwright. They have been selected as one of six kaituhi to take part in the mentorship and incubator programme Te Papa Tupu with a middle grade novel, and have been granted a mentorship by NZ Society of Authors and Creative NZ for a young adult novel.
- Jamie Sands is a non-binary (they/them) kiwi who’s always been wondering ‘what if’? A number one bestseller on Amazon, they write inclusive optimistic urban fantasy and romance highlighting queer characters. Jamie grew up in Wellington but now lives in Auckland with their wonderful spouse and two formally-stray cats.
- Jade du Preez (she/her) is an Tāmaki Makaurau-based author and an award-winning writer of short fiction with a literary-bent. Working on her novel Outsider has provided her an opportunity to tell a story involving art, Japanese culture, legal complexities, and—best of all—people.
