Queerness in Colour: Spoken Word Event
Description
Queerness in Colour
Spoken Word Event | Midsumma Festival 2027
Queerness is better spoken in colour.
Some stories are carried quietly for years. Others find their place through poetry, performance and the courage to speak in front of others.
Queerness in Colour is a community-led spoken word and storytelling initiative led by Ine, developed collaboratively with the support of AfroNile Foundation.
The event creates space for queer, First Nations, and culturally and racially marginalised voices to explore identity, culture, belonging, relationships and the experiences that shape how we understand ourselves and one another.
Through live spoken word performances and a panel conversation, audiences will encounter different perspectives on what it means to live, love, express ourselves and find belonging across communities.
The afternoon invites reflection, laughter, difficult questions and meaningful connections. Each artist brings their own perspective, and audiences are invited to listen with curiosity and respect.
Whether you are part of the LGBTQIA+ community, an arts enthusiast or someone interested in stories that expand your understanding of others, you are welcome.
