Quilt Freedom Workshop 56: A Global View
Event description
When I was in England last summer I spent a few days filming with the Quiltfolk video hosts, Jenni Smith, Kay Walsh and their crew. Now I get to turn the tables and interview Jenni Smith in my next Quilt Freedom Workshop. Jenni, Kay and the crew have explored the world of quilts in Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Hawaii, New Mexico, The English Lakes, Provence and Manhattan. For my upcoming appearance in the Quiltfolk Adventure Workshops later this year, we visited several sites in Northumberland to help me track down the story and quilts of the original Joe the Quilter. Kay is out of the country, but Jenni will be able to tell us about some of their experiences looking at quilts from different regions, different countries and different time periods. Jenni, an expert sewist herself, will show a couple of her own quilts and talk about what she sees happening in the world of quilts. I'll have some rare quilts from Wales, Northumberland and Provence from the International Quilt Museum to give us some ideas for new projects.Â
