Quilt Freedom Workshop 62: Birthday Party

September 13 being my birthday and my only open Saturday for my Quilt Freedom Workshop, I decided to celebrate with you! My special guest will be my apprentice Eric Galindo, shown here after my last workshop with my guests at that one, Julie Silber and Rod Kiracofe. Eric got interested in quilts when he inherited his Great Grandmother's quilt and took it to a Quilt Discovery Day. A clothing designer by trade, with denim a specialty, Eric is an expert at clothing but has never made a quilt. We will look at his GG's quilt and some of mine, pick one for his first block, and solicit advice from all attendees. What would you want a first time quilter to know? What do you think is important? I'll be calling in some famous friends to offer their own advice. Fun, opinionated, helpful--we will welcome input of all types.
