Sun, 16 Mar, 2:30pm - 4:30pm AEDT

Event description

This concert represents your very last chance to see Quin in action as a high voice - silver fox as Silver Swan, if you will!

On the program - the world premiere of Maria Grenfell's Disappearing; an updated version of Quin's Birdsong cycle for Sequenza+Violone (yes, Quin will be playing and singing at the same time, and look forward to this with their usual mix of enthusiasm and existential dread), as well as their un/breaking duology for voice and guitar; plus various beloved classical favourites ranging from solemn to silly as.

The time has come (is, in fact, well overdue) for a change. In the short to medium term, Quin will be undergoing medical transition, so that their externals more closely match their deeply nonbinary, Not-And-Never-Was-A-Girl, Equally-Not-And-Never-Was-A-Boy, self.

As well as the tickets available here on Humanitix, other rewards (including streaming attendance at the gig, professional-quality recordings, open rehearsals, naming rights!!) can be had via Pozible.

If you want to make a tax-deductible donation without reward, for the sheer sake of seeing Quin soar into their next phase, you can help defray gig on-costs by making a tax deductible donation through the Australian Cultural Fund.

With enormous thanks to Quin's wonderful colleagues (in aphabetical order) Natalya Bing, Michael Gissing, Matt Goddard, Amanda Hodder, David Malone, Rachel Meyers, Brett Rutherford, and Katie Yap for volunteering their time to help send them off in appropriately fabulous style, and to Nathan Males of 9B Studios for incredibly generous venue support.

Quin is running this event to raise money for a chest reduction procedure. 10% of the net crowdfunding proceeds will also be going to the Working It Out gender affirmation fund - so by contributing, you not only get to help Quin live their truth, but will also be supporting other gender nonconforming Tasmanians to do the same 😃

Come along and help celebrate the end of an era and the start of another really exciting chapter! Doors will open at 2 - grab a drink and shmooze with your fellow audience members ahead of a 2:30pm start 🙂

Snacks and more drinks, as well as an opportunity to chat with Quin, will happen at interval.
