QUT Business Leaders' Forum with Geraldine Slattery, President Australia, BHP
Event description
Geraldine Slattery
President Australia, BHP
Join the upcoming QUT Business Leaders’ Forum to be held for the first time at The Star Brisbane.
Geraldine Slattery is at the helm of one of Australia’s largest companies, overseeing the operations and production of the nation’s single largest export earner.
More than 30 years ago, Geraldine left her family’s dairy farm in Ireland to pursue an engineering career in Australia. Since joining BHP in 1994, she has risen through the ranks, gaining in-field technical skills and global leadership experience from roles held in the UK, Australia and the US.
Now President Australia for BHP, Geraldine brings unique and valuable expertise to her role. Alongside building safe, empowered and high performing teams, Geraldine is passionate about the need to recapture Australia’s competitiveness.
While Australia is well positioned to meet the world’s increasing demand for metals and minerals, many of which are essential building blocks for a net zero future - the future won’t be gifted to any nation. Competition in the global arena is fierce, markets are unforgiving and the race for investment is on.
Join Geraldine as she shares her remarkable leadership journey, reveals the challenges and qualities that drive her success and sheds light on the future of Australia’s mining industry and what it will take to remain competitive.
Join us for this insightful conversation moderated by leading journalist, Ellen Fanning.
