Event description

Join us for an unforgettable evening of music at QUT's Garden's Theatre on October 18th. Our talented graduating students will take center stage at 7pm, presenting their original compositions across a diverse spectrum of genres. From folk and rock to electronic and cinematic scores, the showcase promises to be a testament to Brisbane's vibrant emerging music scene.

The night kicks off at 6pm in the Gardens Theatre Foyer, where our gifted 1st and 2nd year musicians will set the tone with their performances. Come early, meet your friends and have a drink!

ARTIST LINEUP: (check back regularly for details!)

strayfold

strayfold is an alternative rock band from Brisbane/Meanjin, arising with their dynamic shoegaze sound. Their songs marry gracefully vulnerable lyrics with tenacious instrumentals, creating passionate music that is both intimate and lush.

Inspired by the likes of my bloody valentine, Julia Jacklin, and Feeble Little Horse, strayfold’s 6-piece ensemble features striking sounds of baritone guitar, violin and soaring female vocals. 

chelsea costar

With the intention of immortalising emotion through art, chelsea costar writes indie folk music for those with big souls. She’s deeply inspired by artists such as Bon Iver, Stevie Nicks and Adrienne Lenker, who have informed her musical journey. Within chelsea’s music you'll find love letters to what once was, what is and what is yet to come -- entangled with poetic lyrics, resonating guitars and a feeling of warmth.

AMY ELISE

Gold Coast's Amy Elise captivates with her alternative indie rock, blending powerful melodies and punchy guitar riffs into a compelling mix of introspection and rebellion. Her unique voice and dynamic stage presence are making waves, establishing her as a standout talent in the indie music scene with a bright future ahead.

PLAIN JANE

Plain Jane is a musical act embracing the wonderful time capsule of music; past, present and future. The connection between humanity and sound is explored through powerful vocals, strings and guitar to create a transcendent experience inspired by genres such as folk, indie pop, blues and country.

annabelle and Tess Finch

annabelle and Tess Finch are an emerging dynamic duo, merging their respective solo artistry into a unique, collaborative force. Their songs seamlessly blend an array of pop, indie, folk, and jazz influences, with their work drawing comparison to the likes of Billie Eilish, Lizzy McAlpine and Clairo. With a shared emphasis on lyrical storytelling and captivating composition, the two come together to captivate audiences with songs that resonate with emotional honesty and pure, free-flowing imagination.

APRIL DARLING

Hailing from Brisbane, Australia, April Darling is a duo consisting of Singer/Songwriter Jemima Laag and Producer Ethan Wood. April Darling sets out to create a unique brand of indie pop/rock that combines elements of art rock, shoegaze, folk, post-punk and much more. Our set consists of a collection of original progressive pop songs, drawing influences from many artists such as Mitski, Feeble little horse, Sasami, and Paramore.

THE ZON

The Zon is a Brisbane based producer and performer, fueled by synth-pop beats inspired by the likes of Lady Gaga, Charli XCX, Grimes and Beyonce. The solo project if fronted by Eddy and backed by a powerhouse band that helps bring his vision to life on stage. Zon has been performing in the local Brisbane music scene for a couple of years already, with an EP and LP already released, and another LP currently under production.

NTfVR 

(pronounced Night Fever) is the solo project of Brisbane-based songwriter and producer, Caleb Chambers. Inspired by the likes of Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Anderson Paak, Jamiroquai and Daft Punk he infuses disco-pop, funk, rnb and soul into his original music. Being a drummer he is always interersted in making his songs rhythmic and groovy to make listeners want to dance. Also being fascinated by the live spectacle of dancing pop artists much like Timberlake and Jackson, he finds interest in incorporating dance into his live performances and future visions for music videos. For the upcoming showcase, he will be performing his upcoming debut single, 'Feel' which is a disco-pop/funk song.


HAYLEY & MONNIE

Hayley and Monnie are a dynamic music duo blending classical and theatre influences to create lush, soft pop soundscapes. With Hayley on vocals and Monnie on piano, these two embrace the storytelling power of music and are influenced by artists such as Renee Rapp and Joni Mitchell.


AMBELLA AND THE TOMS

Ambella and the Toms are a Brisbane-based music group comprised of artists from differing backgrounds, focusing their collective creativity into theatrical rock and metal fusions.

Inspired by a range of sources, including metalcore, classic rock and theatre, the 5-piece band makes use of eclectic lyrical storytelling sung by two vocalists, supported by dramatic piano, booming bass, screeching guitar, mesmerising synths and hard hitting drums.

JARVIS FLOYD

Jarvis Floyd is the solo project of songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jarvis Hill. 

Influenced by artists such as Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Radiohead, Jarvis weaves his love of 90’s rock with a background in jazz and funk, employing soaring guitars with grounded bass and punchy drums.

RADIAL DELAY

Radial Delay's sound is best described as a fusion of rock, folk, and pop, resulting from each member's diverse musical tastes and influences. Their songwriting intends to strike the delicate balance of creating something contemporary, while paying homage to the classics that formed the soundtrack of their youth.

AMANDA HESSE & GEORGIA SCARLETT

Experience the enchanting harmonies of Amanda Hesse, whose captivating vocals and sweet violin will draw you in. Joining her on stage is Georgia Scarlett, with her gentle acoustic guitar and ethereal voice. Together, this duo seeks to evoke genuine emotions through the beautiful blend of folk and indie acoustic melodies.

SERENDIPITI

Serendipiti is carbonated indie-folk - with modest sweet guitar lines that grow into fizz-up-your-nose cinematic sensations. Her debut single ‘Human’ explodes with ethereal charm, and her upcoming debut EP is a document of her dedication to relentlessly uncovering the light in the darkness.
