QUT Robotics Club Droid Racing Challenge 2025

Get excited and register for the Droid Racing Challenge 2025! DRC is an autonomous robot challenge that has been run by QUT Robotics Club since 2016. It encourages university students, high school students and interested members of the public to build an autonomous vehicle that can race around a track using computer vision. We encourage you to use innovative technologies and employ your electrical, mechanical and autonomous skills to come out at the top of the challenge. The competition is supported by the Queensland University of Technology, Boeing and the QUT Centre for Robotics.

The rules have been adjusted for this year's competition! This includes the addition of a 2 category system for competitors. The new categories are Newcomers and Opens. Please see the rules document (which you can find via this link 2025 DRC Rules!) for the full details on eligibility for each category. You will need to nominate the category your team would like to enter into at registration, but you may change it later on by contacting us directly at qutroboticsclub@gmail.com.

This year there will be an entry fee of $5 per team member, capped at $20 per team (so if your team is above 4 people, you will still only pay $20). We are implementing an entry fee to help us keep DRC going. It'll help us pay for things like complimentary lunch and volunteer shirts so you can always find someone to help you on competition day. If this entry fee presents a barrier to you entering the competition, please contact us directly at qutroboticsclub@gmail.com. We want to provide opportunities for anyone who loves robotics to compete in DRC.

We recommend all members of your team register in the same ticket order. This is particularly important for 5 and 6 person teams, as we can only apply the discounted rate for these teams within one ticket order. Please note that each member of your team will need to enter their details at time of registration.

Additionally, if you wish to attend the team dinner we will be running during the competition, we ask you to also buy a dinner meal ticket. Again, if this presents a barrier to entry for you, please contact us directly at qutroboticsclub@gmail.com.

Registration will close at midnight on the 23rd of June. If you need to retract your registration for any reason please use the Contact Host button to do so.
