Join us this NAIDOC Week for a webinar exploring Indigenous Data, Indigenous Data Sovereignty and Indigenous Data Governance and what this means for researchers.


About this talk

In this talk you will gain an understanding of what may constitute ‘Indigenous Data’ and how it may be different to other forms of data as well as the important concepts of Indigenous Data Sovereignty and Indigenous Data Governance with a focus on their relevance and application in research.

Indigenous Data Sovereignty emphasises the rights of Indigenous peoples and communities to control and manage their data while Indigenous Data Governance ensures best practice for ethical and respectful use and management of Indigenous Data.

Speaker Bio

Becki Cook is a Nunukul Aboriginal woman who is currently undertaking her PhD and working as a Research Assistant in Indigenous Data Science at the QUT Centre for Data Science. Her PhD research is focussed on strategies for enhancing data literacy in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
