Come join the Deep South Freediving community for a fun and relaxed freedive & picnic at Waubs Bay - Bicheno for R U OK day!
Whether you're keen to explore new underwater spots, meet fellow ocean lovers, trade tips and tricks with other freedivers or just come for a snorkel or swim, this is the perfect day out. Everyone is welcome!

It's one of our favourite spots close in Tasmania. It has shallow spots for cruising and a nice drop-off to 14m for those wanting something a little deeper.

Only Certified freedivers are permitted to wear weight belts. No proof = No weight belt
This is strictly a ticketed event ONLY. No ticket = No entry

This is a free event though you do need book a ticket.
Date & Time: Saturday 12th September
10:00-10:20 - Arrive at the dive site, meet the community, find a buddy to dive with and discuss your capabilities, put on your wetsuit and get a lucky door prize ticket!
10:20AM - Essential - dive briefing followed by a fun group photo
10:30AM - Dive in!
Feel free to end your dive and get the picnic started on the rocks when you’re ready

This is a free, casual meet-up, not a formal course, so please ensure you’re comfortable to look after yourself and always buddy up (you can find a buddy during the dive briefing if you come alone).

We highly encourage car pooling to these events so we don't over crowd areas and keep a minimal impact. Keep your eye on the Facebook discussion for a car pooling thread.
Note: The only thing we take at social dives are photos, so please no harvesting of abalone, fish, or crayfish.

Deep South Freediving Event Terms & Conditions
By booking, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Deep South Freediving Event Terms & Conditions.
Participation in freediving, snorkelling, swimming, boat-based, and other ocean activities is subject to weather, sea conditions, safety requirements, participant eligibility, and completion of all required waivers, medical declarations, and course-agency forms.
All participants must:
Be confident swimmers and able to swim a minimum of 200 metres continuously without support
Be physically and medically fit to freedive, swim, or snorkel
Disclose any medical condition, injury, medication, illness, pregnancy, ear or sinus issue, or other factor that may affect safe participation
Meet all advertised event prerequisites, including certification, experience, and equipment requirements where applicable
Follow all safety briefings, staff instructions, and buddy-system requirements at all times
Remain with an appropriate buddy while in the water; freediving, snorkelling, and swimming alone are not permitted
Participate within their training, certification, experience, and personal limits
Not be under the influence of alcohol or illicit drugs. Alcohol and illicit drugs are not permitted at any Deep South Freediving event.
Uncertified freedivers must not wear, carry, or use a weight belt, neck weight, ankle weights, or any other form of additional weighting in the water.
Deep South Freediving may require medical clearance from a suitably qualified medical practitioner where a medical questionnaire response or disclosed condition indicates this is appropriate. Participants who do not provide required documentation or medical clearance by the stated deadline may be unable to participate, and the applicable cancellation policy will apply.
Deep South Freediving may refuse, pause, modify, or end a participant’s involvement where staff reasonably believe this is necessary for safety, health, weather, sea conditions, behaviour, operational requirements, or the wellbeing of others. A participant may be removed without refund where reasonably appropriate if they are unsafe, medically unfit, intoxicated, disruptive, abusive, discriminatory, harassing, refuse staff instructions, fail to meet prerequisites, or otherwise create a risk to themselves, others, wildlife, property, or the operation of the event.
Deep South Freediving may postpone, cancel, relocate, shorten, or change an activity, itinerary, launch time, venue, vessel, instructor, guide, or dive site due to weather, sea conditions, visibility, safety, participant numbers, staffing, vessel availability, equipment, wildlife conditions, or other operational circumstances. If Deep South cancels an activity, participants will be offered the remedy outlined in the applicable cancellation policy, such as a transfer, account credit, or refund. Deep South Freediving is not responsible for travel, accommodation, equipment-hire, or other consequential costs.
Deep South Freediving may take photographs and video during events for promotional, educational, website, and social-media purposes. Please advise the event host before the activity if you do not consent to being identifiable in photography or video. We will make reasonable efforts to respect this request, particularly for posed or individual footage.
By proceeding with your booking, you acknowledge that ocean activities involve inherent risks and agree to participate responsibly.
