Rachel Scott
Description
We are delighted to present critically acclaimed Australian cellist Rachel Scott with a concert titled 'Songs and Dances’.
A celebration of music written for solo cello – an afternoon of music with something for everyone!
Dances by J.S. Bach from the beautiful first solo suite. There’ll be a song celebrating the traditional owners of the Jerrinja land from the NSW South Coast written by Australian composer Martin Wesley-Smith, music that will make you want to tap your toes from the Appalachian region of North America, an arrangement of the Catalan folk song ‘Song of the Birds’ written especially for Rachel by M.B. Sibson – and a sunny musical surprise at the end of the concert!
Expect to hear music you know, music you’ll have not heard before (but will definitely want to hear again!), music that will make your heart slow, and music to make you want to dance!
Profit from this concert will go to the Tuncurry WW1 Memorial Hall renovation fund.
