Rainbow Parlour
Event description
Let’s create the university rainbow lounge of our dreams. A place to be daggy and relax while being your whole self and/or meet other queers* without the chaos of a party or a pub.
Divided into three zones, choose what suits your mood.
- Cosy corner
- Crafting corner
- Conversation corner
*queer - used inclusively for all who identify as LGBTIAQ+ including ethically non-monogamous, kinksters and questioning.
Cosy corner -sponsored by Virtue & Vice Events
Lounge around on cushions and rugs. Read, sketch, cuddle or bring your gaming device with headphones.
Crafting corner -sponsored by Wool Baa
Wool Baa will be supplying us with knitting and crochet supplies including communal projects of pride coloured crochet bunting and a 20x20 knitted squares throw rug. Get into some Lego or a mindful colouring page. Bring a jigsaw or bring your own project. Sewing machine and overlocker available to use with help available to make your next party outfit.
Conversations corner
Join in one of the conversation games: a gentle, structured way to build connections facilitated by one of our consent angels. Focus in on connecting with other humans. Or bring in a boardgame, borrow one of ours, and bond over that.
Our venue is the Fairfield Community Room in the heart of Station Street Fairfield. Fairfield Village is a vibrant community of traders renown for its diverse range of food options and community events. There is free public WiFi, the Fairfield Library next door (open until 4pm) and plenty of public transport.
Basic tea and coffee supplied. Grab take away from one of the excellent options locally for something more substantial.
On arrival collect your pronouns sticker and, optional name tag. Choose to use the traffic light stickers, too.
- Green, “I’m here to meet people. Please say hello.”
