Come along to a Sharing circle of meaningful connections among LGBTQ+ South Asians and allies – a welcoming and affirming space for all to bring their full authentic selves, celebrating diverse identities and valuing all voices.

Who is this event for?

This event is for anyone with a connection to the LGBTQ+, South Asian community - whether you’re a member of the community or a supportive ally. If you’re interested in sharing dreams, ideas, and experiences, and expanding your circle in a space of warmth and openness, we’d love to have you with us!

What to expect?

  • A cozy, private gathering at ‘Say It With Lentil’, a beloved local restaurant known for its inviting atmosphere and famous chai.
  • A facilitated Sharing Circle, where we’ll come together to reflect, share, and connect on topics important to our community.
  • Space for introspection and group conversation, followed by an open Sharing Circle.
  • After the event, we'd love for you to stay for lunch and continue the conversation over a delicious meal.

For this event, we’ll each buy our food from the menu.

About your Hosts

  • Sneha Sobti (she/her): Sneha is a trailblazing Inclusion and Wellbeing advocate, artist, speaker, and published author. Her work is deeply rooted in lived experience, inclusive leadership, and empowering people to lead joyful, fulfilled lives. She is known for her passion for building authentic connections and her ability to foster environments of belonging. Sneha is a pioneer in cultivating communities where people can come together in solidarity, celebration, and mutual support.

  • Beau Quilty (they/them) is co-facilitator, and a non-binary writer and poet from regional NSW, Australia. They also publish under Isabelle Quilty. They write poetry, flash and poetic prose about the body, the soul and the earth. Their novels feature monstrous women who embrace their dark sides.

You can find their work published in various online magazines, anthologies, audiobooks and zines like Ultimo Press, Mascara Literary, Kindling and Sage and Colournary. Their debut poetry chapbook was published with Querencia Press, titled ‘The World Eats Butterflies Like You.’

  • WestWords - The event is supported by WestWords. WestWords is dedicated to celebrating and championing the stories of the people, places and cultures that comprise the heart of Western Sydney. WestWords Centre for Writing is based in Parramatta.
  • Say It With Lentil - The event is hosted at this cosy little eatery nestled in Newtown. Our focus is on serving meals that are balanced, nutritious, and bursting with flavour. They offer simple, wholesome dishes that feel like home-cooked comfort – food you can enjoy every day and feel great about.

People aged 18+ are welcome. Registration is essential.
