Randwick City Council Architecture and Urban Design Talks 2026
Description
Join us for our 2026 Architecture Talks, an exciting event hosted by Randwick City Council that celebrates local design excellence in architecture and urban design. This year, we’re thrilled to have KA Design Studio and Sam Crawford Architects, joining us to present on their award-winning projects. We will also have Jonathan Knapp, from SJB talking to us on recent NSW planning reforms, and their implications within Randwick's context.
The event will be hosted by Andrew Nimmo, Director at Lahznimmo Architects and former NSW Chapter President of the Australian Institute of Architects. Together, they will provide valuable insights into the future of architecture and urban design.
Inspired by the Resilient Randwick Strategy, this year’s Talks will explore what it means for our built environment to be resilient and adaptive to all forms of change. From socially sustainable architecture, climate-responsive design, to mid-rise architecture that showcases gentle density, the event will explore how architects are creating places that can respond to change while remaining deeply connected to the character of Randwick.
A special segment will focus on recent NSW Government housing reforms, and how these are influencing the future or Randwick’s housing and urban development. Attendees will gain insight into how architects are balancing gentle density with site-specific design outcomes that respect local streetscapes, environmental conditions, and community identity.
