Event description
Learn the basics of harakeke weaving with Annie Cochrane
Workshop TWO: Learn how to make a kono (4 corner harakeke basket)
All tools and harakeke (flax) are provided.
Annie is offering two introductory workshops for those of you wanting to learn how to make a few simple items for use around the home or as koha for others. You will also discover whether raranga is an art you would like to take further.
Annie can take up to 7 students in each class, so register your interest early by sending an email to timebank@whaingaroa.org.nz
The cost is as follows:
TimeBankers: Timecredits for time taken
Non TimeBankers $15 per workshop
You can join Timebank Raglan here: www.whaingaroa.org.nz/timebank
Everybody has their own pace so some of you might need more than the timeframes indicated above. That's fine with Annie as the workshops will be at her home (in Raglan West) and she can give whatever time is needed.
If you can't make both workshops but want to learn basic flax weaving (raranga) you can always arrange a one-on-one session with her to catch up via timebank@whaingaroa.org.nz
Or if none of the dates work for you, put your name on the waiting list so that we can contact you up for future flax weaving workshops.
If you do have some basic skills and are familiar with Tikanga Harakeke, you have the option of attending the second workshop to make a kono. You would need to talk with Annie about this first and can via timebank@whaingaroa.org.nz
