    Event description

Suicide prevention is much more than responding to a crisis. Knowing how to identify and respond to early warning signs that may be present long before a suicidal crisis is equally as important as knowing how to respond when a crisis hits. Most of us can feel uncomfortable talking about suicide. We can be paralysed by thoughts like “What if I say the wrong thing?” or “I don’t want to put the idea in their head”.

The Reach Out & Connect training has been developed to equip people with an understanding of what factors can lead to suicidal feelings and practical tools to respond. We support workforce and community groups to enhance their confidence in having conversations about mental health and suicide and build an awareness of where to find help and how to link people to support. Our content is based on the latest research in suicide prevention and workshops are facilitated by our team of multi-disciplinary mental health professionals, including staff with a lived experience of the impact of suicide.
