Jodi Kennedy
General Manager Charitable Trusts & Philanthropy 

Jodi joined Equity Trustees  in July 2017, as the General Manager, Charitable Trusts & Philanthropy. The unit sits within the Trustee and Wealth Services (TWS) division of Equity Trustees.

Prior to Equity Trustees Jodi spent 10 years in the Financial Services sector, working at National Australia Bank, leading their Community Engagement team within Corporate Responsibility. Her team were responsible for the NAB Foundation, NAB’s Annual Granting Program, Employee Volunteering and Workplace Giving as well as a range of corporate community partnerships with key NFP organisations. 

Prior to this Jodi spent 6 years working in the UK, leading a Marketing and Business Development function for an International Surveying company, responsible for brand, client engagement and business development across the UK, Ireland and Spain regions.

The Equity Trustees Philanthropy team are the 2nd largest funder of the not-for-profit sector in the country and distribute approximately $76million p.a to a large number of charitable organisations. The team work nationally, with 18 team members sitting across the Melbourne and Sydney offices. They manage over 300 active philanthropy clients daily as well as a number of NFP organisations’ investments.

Denise Cheng
Relationship Manager, Philanthropy

Based in Sydney, Denise is a member of Equity Trustee’s Charitable Trusts and Philanthropy team, with a specific focus on supporting Active Philanthropists and their families to give in a thoughtful and strategic way. For over 18 years, she has been building relationships with clients – supporting them to meet their goals and business outcomes.

After completing her Bachelor of Business, Denise started her professional career in the world of business development and marketing. After many years working for organisations like Deloitte, DLA Phillips Fox (now DLA Piper) and the Law Society of NSW, Denise transitioned into the for purpose sector in 2013 as a fundraiser for YWCA and then The Reach Foundation.

Her passion for the sector extends to Denise’s life outside of work. She was a member of the Loreto Normanhurst board for 7 years, she has volunteered at the Mater Hospital in NSW for more than 10 years and offers her expertise at various charity events organised by The Reach Foundation, YWCA, Buildcorp Foundation, Arnott’s Foundation and The Funding Network. She joined the board of Dress for Success Sydney in September 2019 and is a graduate of the AICD Company Directors Course.

Will Beresford
Relationship Manager, Philanthropy

Prior to Equity Trustees, Will worked for a global children’s charity where he led the corporate partnerships program and was involved in putting together significant sponsorships to achieve the charity’s mission. It was here that he saw firsthand the difficulties and challenges that the for-purpose sector faces when trying to fund their great work.

He previously spent five years working in the mining and energy-related industries working on projects and building relationships throughout Australia, Asia, Europe and the USA.

Will has and MBA, sat on a number of not-for-profit boards and committees. Until recently he was a Non-Executive Director for Outcare Inc, an organisation based in WA which aims to reduce the recidivism rate. At board level, Will has been able to understand the strategic issues and opportunities many organisations have when planning for a sustainable future.
