Rebound Gathering
Event description
🌿 Anyone Keen for a Rebound?
After announcing that Rootbound 2024 would be our final festival (for now), we took some much-needed time to reflect, rest, and reimagine what might come next.
While we’re not quite ready to dive back into a full-scale festival, we’ve been feeling the call to reconnect — to gather, ground, and share space again.
So, in collaboration with the Townsville-based arts legends, the Diffraction Collective (who’ve played a pivotal role in Rootbound’s creative direction from the very beginning), we’re putting together a small community gathering — something humble, heartfelt, and grounded in the same spirit that made Rootbound so special.
We’re calling it: Rebound.
🌀 What is Rebound?
Rebound is not a festival. There won’t be a sprawling program or elaborate production. But there will be music, connection, nature, and some familiar faces under the stars. It’s a space to catch up, breathe out, and simply be — together — without the bells and whistles.
📍 August 2nd–3rd
📍 Mungalla Station, Nywaigi Country — the same beautiful land that held Rootbound so dearly.
Rebound is about holding space for creativity and community in a way that feels lighter, slower, and more sustainable — for the land, and for us.
We’re also supported by the ongoing love and care of our friends at In Tune – NQ Festival Harm Reduction. While they won’t be running an official space this time, many of the beautiful humans behind the purple vests will be with us — continuing to embody the care culture they helped seed and grow over the years 💜
🎟 A Different Kind of Ticketing
To keep Rebound accessible and community-driven, we’re offering values-based, pay-what-you-can pricing — with three suggested tiers to guide your choice:
-
Community Supported – For those who need a little extra help right now. Whether you're on support payments, between jobs, or just feeling the squeeze — this tier is made possible by the generosity of others. Take it with love.
-
Sustainer – The true cost of your place at Rebound. If you’re in a stable financial position, this ticket keeps the event afloat and supports everyone’s experience.
-
Abundance Giver – For those with a little extra to give. Your contribution helps others attend, supports the team, and nurtures the future of gatherings like this.
You’re welcome to pay any amount between tiers, or even above the Abundance Giver level if you’re feeling generous.
No matter what you contribute, you’re equally part of this gathering. There are no VIP zones — just shared purpose, mutual care, and trust.
✨ If none of these options are viable for you — especially if you're experiencing financial hardship or are on support payments — please reach out.
We’ve set aside a handful of discounted tickets, and there may be volunteering opportunities available too.
📧 Email us at reboundfnq@gmail.com and let us know if you’re interested in a discount code or helping out. We’ll do our best to make it work.
👶 Kids Under 14
Children aged 13 and under can attend Rebound for free — just make sure they’re accompanied by a parent or guardian. We welcome little ones as part of the community vibe!
🌱 Stay Tuned
We’re still ironing out the finer details, but if you’d like to be part of this next chapter — a nod to what came before, and a gentle step toward what might be next — stay tuned.
Thank you for being part of this — your presence is the most important contribution. 💚
