Rebuilding Trust: Fisheries, Science, Management
Event description
Hard to build but easy to break, trust between industry, scientists, managers, and policymakers is key to effective fisheries management. However, research indicates that across many UK fisheries there is low trust in institutions, with trust in Government especially low.
At the same time, there are case studies across the UK and beyond which provide best case and innovative examples demonstrating the conditions that foster trust, and the efficacy of collaborative efforts towards sustainable fisheries under those conditions.
Bringing together experts on this topic and best practice case studies, this event will explore these issues and set out recommendations in support of fostering, and rebuilding the bridges of trust needed for sustainable, resilient and prosperous UK fisheries.
