    1. Community Opening Event: Sunday 15 December, 11am – 2pm at piyura kitina (Risdon Cove)

    TPAN in collaboration with TAC is excited to announce our new series of events titled ‘Sharing Histories’.

    Through our relationship with the Tasmanian Aboriginal community, TPAN has become aware of gaps in knowledge and understanding in the Palestinian, Arab and Muslim communities towards the history, culture and experiences of Tasmanian Aboriginal people). 

    This series of events aims to build connections and shared knowledge between Palawa, Palestinian, Arab and Muslim communities. 

    In the next few months we will be creating spaces for genocide affected Palestinian, Arab and Muslim communities to learn about Aboriginal history, culture and to share their own. The intent of these events  is to build solidarity between our communities based on our shared experiences, and to continue empowering each other.


    To kick off the series, here are the details of our first event:

    Community Opening Event: Sunday 15 December, 11am – 2pm at piyura kitina (Risdon Cove)

    This opening is a  chance to bring the Palawa, Palestinian, Arab and Muslim communities together in an outdoor gathering at piyura kitina (Risdon Cove). This is an all ages, family friendly free event.

    During this opening:

    • kipli takara tour
    • music by Majdi & Seraj Jelda
    • food by Palawa Kipli
    • stories by Palawa & Arab elders
    • cultural gift exchange
    • an introduction to the events that will be held in the following months
    • a brief history introduction of the Levant region, Palestine and Lutruwita

    This first event of this series is for the Palawa, Palestinian, Arab and Muslim communities only.
