Description

Join us for an engaging and practical community kōrero with Peter Thorburn as we explore the realities of depression and anxiety in young people.

Mental health challenges can affect young people in many different ways, often impacting their relationships, education, confidence, and overall wellbeing. This session will provide a deeper understanding of what depression and anxiety can look like in young people, the underlying factors that contribute to these challenges, and the signs that may indicate someone is struggling.

Designed for youth workers, educators, community practitioners, parents, caregivers, and whānau, this kōrero will focus on practical strategies for recognising concerns early, responding with confidence and compassion, and creating supportive environments where young people feel safe, heard, and connected.

This will be an opportunity to learn, reflect, ask questions, and strengthen our collective ability to support the young people in our communities.

Whether you work directly with rangatahi or simply want to better support the young people in your life, all are welcome to attend. We encourage an open, respectful, and supportive discussion where everyone can learn together.
