Join us at Carclew/Tutu Karralikanungku for a unique Reconciliation Week Panel Discussion, featuring First Nations cultural experts and artists, the Surveyor General, and voices of today's young people. This event offers a chance to learn about South Australia's shared history, cultures, and achievements.

Background  

In January 2025, six primary schools took an excursion to Carlcew where they walked across the road to the iconic statue of Colonel Light Williams on Montefiore Hill. Walking with experts Lee-Ann Tjunypa Buckskin and the Surveyor General Bradley Slape, they asked the simple question “what do you think he’s pointing at?” Many questions and differing perspectives were unpacked in eye opening conversation and art marking. The rest, as they say, is history.   

During these days spent together the young people created inspiring dance and art pieces in response to what they learned that offer shifting perspectives on our shared and complex First Nations and colonial histories. These artworks will be on display in the building foyer at the conclusion of the panel.
