Record Crate: Introduction to Fine Furniture

Join Community Workshop NOLA to learn some woodworking skills and make a record storage crate. 

Students will assemble a record crate from pre-milled and sized lumber. Emphasis will be placed on the fundamentals of layout techniques and joinery. While no experience is required, intermediate level woodworkers are also encouraged.

A bout the Instructor:

Simon Blache is a fine furniture maker, designer, and founder of the local custom furniture business Pierre Fine Furniture. He approaches furniture making with an emphasis on creating pieces that will gracefully endure the test of time in terms of both aesthetics and durability. A constant student of the craft with a background in Mechanical Engineering, Simon values the knowledge of woodworking traditionalists but is equally keen to reject convention - he believes there is almost never a universal “right way” to do anything.
