Intro to Cupping Therapy

During this webinar we will explore the theory of Cupping therapy including an understanding of the physiological effects on the body from an Eastern and Western medical perspective. Common indications and regions to be treated will be discussed along with common cautions and contraindications including considerations of consent and remnant markings from treatment. Application techniques will be described along with tips for safe, comfortable and effective application including aspects of dosage. There will be a demonstration of the application of suction pump cupping and space for questions and answers surrounding this practice and the integration into your treatment toolkit.

Presenter: Jason Chong

Jason is a Traditional East Asian Medicine Physician and the owner and principal practitioner at Dantian Health, providing consultations for Classical Chinese Herbal Medicine and Japanese Acupuncture in Melbourne, Australia.

He is a qualified acupuncture physician, Classical Chinese herbal medicine clinician, Shiatsu practitioner and Tuina therapist, Oriental therapies educator and director at the Australian Shiatsu College.

Jason's qualifications include:

  • Bachelors degree in Health Science (Chinese Medicine) from Southern School of Natural Therapies
  • Diploma in Chinese Remedial Massage (AnMo TuiNa) from Southern School of Natural Therapies
  • Diploma in Shiatsu and Oriental Therapies from Australian Shiatsu College
  • Diplomate in Canonical Chinese Medicine from Institute of Classics in East Asian Medicine
  • Certificate Traditional Japanese Moxibustion Therapy
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
