Naturopathic Support for Postpartum Recovery

Part 1: The Postpartum Period

Pregnancy and childbirth is an absolute wonder of nature, but it can come at a high cost for mothers who need support as they recover in the postpartum months. More women are having children at an older age, with pre-existing health conditions, using assisted fertility, experiencing complications in pregnancy and they need extra care to help them recover and to prevent long-term concerns.

In this webinar Jane will discuss how to recognise and understand key physiological and pathophysiological changes in the postpartum period.

Participants will learn about:

  • The normal pregnancy and birth, and postpartum health status.
  • Factors that increase the risk for complicated pregnancy and need for increased support postpartum (eg pre-existing chronic health conditions such as cardiometabolic conditions, thyroid disease, mental health conditions).
  • Timelines for recovery.
  • Assessments.
  • When to refer, and who to.
