ATMS Webinar Series: Nutrigenomics

This 3-part series will cover nutrigenomics, epigenetics and gene testing for integrative medical practitioners, naturopaths and nutritionists.

Part 1 will provide the foundations of DNA and gene expression so practitioners can explain what genetic variations are and they can impact someone’s health.

Part 2 is aimed at practitioners who want to use genetics to help personalise their patients’ dietary and nutrient choices to support weight management and optimal health. This webinar will cover genes associated with fat and carbohydrate metabolism, food sensitivities including gluten and dairy along with key nutrients that are influenced by common genetic variations.

Part 3 will cover genes that increase risk for autoimmune disease, focusing on coeliac disease and thyroid disorders. Autoimmune and thyroid disease management strategies will be reviewed, with an emphasis and targeting treatment strategies using DNA results and associated biomarker testing.
