Recyclable toothpaste packaging - Webinar for Local Government
Event description
Hosted by Planet Ark, local councils and waste educators are invited to join this free webinar and Q&A. Find out how the oral care industry is adopting exciting new technology to make toothpaste tubes easily recyclable.
Historically, toothpaste tubes cannot be recycled through kerbside collection due to being made from sheets of plastic laminate with a thin layer of aluminium. These are difficult to recycle through conventional methods, leading to 50 million tubes ending up in landfills in Australia each year.
The 45min session (including Q&A) will:
- explain how the oral care industry plans to transition to a monolpolymer toothpaste tube using only HPDE
- explore the composition of the tube, trials at different MRFs around the country to measure recoverability, and acceptability of the material by plastic recyclers
- detail how many of these products are currently on the market and how that may impact products placed in your residents’ recycling bins.
This is your chance to discover the oral care industry plans to make all toothpaste tubes recyclable in Australia and have your questions answered.
There are sessions for different states and territories, however, if you cannot attend your allotted time, please join another session.
