Event description

In Part 4 of our Nature Positive Webinar Series, we will hear from three water industry experts from both Victoria and across the border; all of whom are passionate about recycled water use.

Emma James will discuss an innovative water treatment, recycling and reuse project at Picton that uses algae and river grass to treat and produce recycled water fit for purpose; minimising impact on important ecological and recreational values of the waterways. Emma will also showcase some projects that demonstrate the important role of recycled water for local communities and for more cost-effective management of water.

Erin Toner will present on the NSW Government’s recently released Recycled Water Roadmap. The Roadmap aims to make it easier for water utilities to assess, cost and engage with their customers on recycled water, and invest in it for both drinking and non-drinking purposes to increase water security and resilience. This presentation will provide more detailed information on the development of a Framework for Community Engagement on Purified Recycled Water for drinking.

Peter Morgan will outline a number of innovative integrated water management projects and opportunities that he is involved in in our Barwon River Catchment area region. His presentation will include the development of the Northern Water Plant that supplies high quality recycled water to the Geelong refinery and plans for a large-scale alternative water grid in the Geelong region to enable increased use of recycled water and stormwater for productive uses.
