***DOGS ARE WELCOME***

The Red Hill Rail Trail traces the path of the old railway line connecting Red Hill to Merricks, offering a picturesque walking experience particularly in the morning. The trail meanders alongside horse paddocks and wineries, adding to the charm of the journey.

This moderate grade 2 walk covers a total distance of 12 km, which will be completed at a steady/brisk pace. It is not recommended for beginners as we do like to keep a steady pace, picking up the pace on the downhill section. We will begin our trek from Merricks.

As we head towards Red Hill, there will be a slight incline for 6 kilometres. Once we reach the halfway point, we will turn around and retrace our steps back to the starting point along the same trail.... all downhill, you will be happy to hear!

To ensure a comfortable walk, please make sure you are well-hydrated, rested and have eaten breakfast. There is a toilet available at the beginning and half way for convenience.

The walk will commence at 9am, so please plan to arrive at 8:45am.
