Red Room - An Intimate Collection
Event description
Red Room: An Intimate Art Collection - Featuring new works by Maisy Robson and Jakob Lydford
This exhibition night will home a display of our most intimate paintings. Paintings of close moments we push away, memories we look at in the dark.
Not just an unapologetic dive into sexuality but a stroke deeper into the the small experiences that shape our desires and how we express them. Through Jakob's dedicated paintings of the male anatomy and arousal to Maisy's devotion to flow through the movement charcoal's expressing natural desires, both these artists invite you to into the intimate spaces that aren't always shared.

Jakob; "Painting for me was something to do when it rained. I unfortunately admire men and their anatomy, I thought if I’m painting something for a while it’s going to need to turn me on for as long as possible. So these pictures represent what really gets the blood rushing for me. Deep closeness. Darkness and lightness. The colour Red. And Big dicks. What gets the blood rushing for you?”
Maisy; "What lies underneath? What lurks in the depth of the mind? What is kept secret and unspoken? Desire undefined. Through charcoal caresses, graphite gropes and prints of flesh, skin and bone, the sexual entity that lives underneath us all is exposed within the intimate moments of life. Raw. Untamed. Unbound.
Where tempting and teasing have turned taboo, where the sexual gaze blocks connection and where sex has become an object , my work exposes lust and desire as nature intended. A feeling. An impulse. An instinct. An act of worship. These pieces bring power back to my sensual identity, accepting and appreciating the beauty that lies underneath."
