    Event description

One painting - one prime minister - one night only.

Artist Joshua Drummond painted a photorealistic portrait of Christopher Luxon. His subject's gormless smile and the discomfiting flesh-toned background was a caricature of a man who speaks entirely in trite slogans and seems unable to respond sincerely to questioning.

He put the painting up for auction on Trademe to raise money for Kiwipal and rainbow youth, but soon after, Trademe removed the painting, deeming it "risky for buyers".

To make the painting safe for viewing, Josh has carefully painted over the flesh-pink background.

Now, for one night only, you can see the painting, partially redacted but still just as unsettling, at Arthole gallery at Darkroom in Christchurch. With special guest, artist Josh Drummond.

***Doors/bar opens at 5PM and the reveal begins at 5.30PM***

Entry by Kohā. All proceeds will go to Kiwipal (The Kiwi Trust for Palestinian Children's Relief) and Rainbow Youth.

Darkroom is an R18 venue. ROAR.
