ReefYARNS #3 | Exploring Alliance Structures

ReefYARNS Webinar Series is a space for Reef Traditional Owners to yarn, learn and stay connected across Sea Country. Each session shares updates, explores a key topic and finishes with time to ask questions.

ReefYARNS #3: Exploring Alliance Structures
After months of yarning with mob right across the Reef, a leading model for the ReefTO Alliance is taking shape — co-created with Reef Traditional Owners and grounded in what mob have told us. This session walks through that model: how it’s structured, how decisions get made, how it stays accountable to mob and Country.

You'll hear from ReefTO Taskforce Co-Chair Duane Fraser and ReefTO General Director, Emma Pethybridge.

When you join ReefYARNS, you’ll be welcomed into a webinar‑style session. These sessions are created for Reef Traditional Owners, but are open to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who have an interest in this work.

Before the session:

• You’ll receive your link to join the webinar in your Humanitix confirmation email, and a reminder email on the morning of the webinar.

• If you plan to join from a mobile phone, please download the Microsoft Teams app beforehand so you can access the webinar smoothly.

During the session:

• Your microphone will be muted for the duration. You’re welcome to keep your camera on or off — whatever you’re most comfortable with.

• You can type questions into the moderated Q&A chat at any time.

• A selection of questions will be answered live at the end of the session.

• Any published questions not answered live will be included in a written Q&A summary, sent to all participants along with a recording of the session.

We follow the ReefTO Gathering Protocol to help keep ReefYARNS a safe and respectful space for all mob. By taking part, you agree to:

• Treating everyone with respect

• Listening, sharing and yarning (via Q&A chat) — with mob, for mob

• Working with, not speaking for, others

• Respecting all voices — including Elders, old people and young ones

Q&A questions that don’t follow the protocol will not be published.

If something doesn’t feel right or goes against the protocol, please let the ReefTO team know.
