Event description

Reflections on the 8th Global Botanic Gardens Congress

Join Dr Emma Dalziell (Research Scientist, Kings Park Science) and Matt Stray (Curator, Western Australian Seed Centre Kings Park) to hear insights from the 8th Global Botanic Gardens Conference held in Singapore in August, where the theme was “People and Plants for a Sustainable Future”. Emma and Matt received the Friends of Kings Park 2024 Vic Galea scholarships to attend, alongside over 1,000 attendees (in person and online) representing 70 countries.

The conference program was diverse and covered a suite of topics including “green and sustainable cities”, “plant diversity and conservation” “engaging communities” and “gardens for the future”. Emma and Matt will provide the Friends with an overview of what they learned and saw in Singapore, including the latest work being done by the global Botanic Gardens community in tackling the world’s most complex challenges such as the global biodiversity crisis.
