Refresh & Reconnect: Yoga & Mindfulness course
Event description
If you are feeling overwhelmed, anxious and stressed, please allow yourself some space to learn, grow and relax. This will be an inviting space for people who are complete beginners and would like an introduction to mindfulness and yoga. Join us for a six-week series, with each lesson building on the previous class. There will be plenty of time for discussion, covering the history and philosophy of yoga, with some gentle movement incorporated into each session.
Week 1 - Introduction to yoga, what to expect & breakdown of a typical class. Working at your own pace to become more in-tune with your body & mind, basic floor poses and understanding modifications.
Week 2 - Standing poses building to a simple flow and spinal movement, alignment, symmetrical vs asymmetrical poses.
Week 3 - Breath focus, why and how to breathe effectively both in and out of class & the effect on nervous system. The importance of yoga in modern context, incorporating a basic breathing technique into the practise.
Week 4 - Further exploration of poses, including a balance theme, how this effects the mind/focus aspect. Introduction to meditation.
Week 5 - Working towards a complete sequence for last week, seated, prone, supine poses, with more balance work.
Week 6 - Full 60 min class incorporating everything we've learnt so far.
BYO yoga mat, however some will be available if you do not have one. Please bring a water bottle, notepad and pen.
Session dates and time: 4 – 5pm on Saturday 24, 31 May, 7, 14, 21, 28 June 2025.
