Recognition of Prior Learning for Skilled Refugees: The Challenges and Opportunities
Join us to hear from Kirsten Singleton about her research into what we know about RPL for new arrivals in Australia
This presentation will discuss the challenges experienced by refugees arriving in Australia with overseas trade and technical qualifications and the opportunities to create pathways to qualified work through RPL. Discussion of the barriers as well as possible solutions that settlement providers, TAFEs and employers can implement will be examined.
About the researchers

Kirsten Singleton is a vocational education specialist with an extensive background of working and supporting people from refugee backgrounds to access learning and work opportunities. Kirsten brings 25 years' practical experience working in learning design and facilitating learning in workplaces across Tasmania.
