Event description

This field trip event will take us to a beautiful small farm in Kaukapakapa where Stephen Newman is putting regenerative agriculture principles into practice. Stephen was a dairy farmer who became disillusioned with the conventional approach to farming and the constant use of chemicals to treat symptoms, instead of identifying and addressing causes. He is now a passionate regen ag practitioner, putting the regen principles into practice on his land and introducing them to his substantial Kiwi Fruit enterprise in Te Puke. Stephen co-founded the Kaipara Regenerative Farmers group (find them on facebook here) and works closely with Quorum Sense - a nationwide network supporting NZ farmers and growers in the shift to biological and regenerative practices. He is also involved in the City to Farm composting project and is undertaking large scale composting on his farm.

At the field day Stephen will share his story with us and then cover the principles and practices of regen ag. Using his farm as a model he will discuss the steps needed to implement the regen approach. We will be talking and walking, there will be plenty of time for questions, and we will end the morning with a shared lunch. Please bring a plate and a $20 cash koha.

Note - once registered you will be sent the address of this farm visit.
