UK Architects Declare is launching the updated Regenerative Design Primer: a practical guide to help architects and other built-environment professionals move beyond reducing harm and towards creating positive change. Still founded on three principles—Being a good ancestor; Co-evolving with nature; and Creating a just space for people—the revised Primer responds to questions raised by Architects Declare signatories:
How to broaden the conversation?
Clearer advice on how to steer conversations with clients and other key stakeholders, particularly when designers feel they have limited agency.
How to measure your impact?
Rather than prescribing fixed targets or presenting “perfect” projects, the new Value Indicator Wheel helps teams explore where a project is already creating value, what impacts or opportunities may have been overlooked, and where it could go further.
What are the examples?
Honest case studies illustrate regenerative traits while acknowledging the compromises, challenges and trade-offs involved in practice.
This will be an interactive launch, with role-play and sticky-note participation giving everyone an opportunity to test some of the Primer’s tools. Afterwards, we’ll continue the conversation in the pub. Come along, get involved and meet others trying to move regenerative practice forward.
