Event description

Citizen Science day: mangrove restoration trials

Join us for a citizen science event at Corinella as part of Blue Carbon Lab's Regenerating Our Coasts program. On the day, we'll be planting mangrove seedlings into biodegradable structures and taking measurements so we can monitor their growth and survival.

This program is trialling biodegradable structures as an active restoration method for coastal wetlands in south-eastern Australia. Often, revegetation efforts in coastal wetlands are hampered due to challenging environmental conditions. The structures help stabilise the soil, allowing root growth, and protect seedlings at crucial stages of their development.

Your efforts on the day will help increase our understanding of the conditions needed for successful restoration these habitats. You'll also get to learn more about blue carbon research and restoration.
