Reiki Shoden (Level 1) Weekend Certification - Oamaru
Description
Reiki Shoden (Level One) Training — Oamaru
Your First Level into Reiki — The Japanese Art of Healing
With Jae Omnet, Reiki Teacher and Master Practitioner
Reiki is more than something you receive during a healing session—it is a practice you can learn, explore and develop for yourself.
Shoden is the first level of Reiki training and the beginning of a relationship with this Japanese art of healing.
This two-day immersive begins with the self. Together, we’ll explore Reiki not only as something that can be shared with others, but as a way of integrating energy practice into everyday living.
Through the Reiki precepts, meditation, breath, energetic practices and hands-on experience, you’ll begin developing a deeper awareness of the energy within and around you. You’ll learn ways to gather, care for and work with your energy while cultivating greater presence, clarity and connection with yourself.
Reiki may support a felt sense of nourishment and regulation. Depending on what you need, the practice may invite greater settling and softness, renewed energy, or a clearer awareness of what is shifting within you. Every person’s experience of Reiki is individual.
You don’t need to want to become a professional Reiki practitioner to learn Reiki. Many people come to Shoden simply to deepen their relationship with themselves and gather meaningful practices that can walk beside them throughout life.
For those who do feel called to share Reiki more widely, Shoden provides the personal foundation from which that path can begin.
What we’ll explore
Across the weekend, you will be introduced to:
The history, traditions and lineage of Reiki
Universal life-force energy and our relationship with it
The Reiki precepts as a foundation for practice and everyday living
Perspectives grounded in compassion, presence and non-duality
Meditation and breath practices
Practices for developing focus, concentration and energetic awareness
The body’s energy centres
Hands-on Reiki self-treatment
Ways to tend, clear and protect your energy
Reiju and attunements
Foundational ways to share Reiki with others
Sharing Reiki with family, friends and animals
Integrating Reiki into your everyday life
This is experiential learning. Alongside the teachings, there will be time to practise, receive, reflect, ask questions and learn within a supportive group.
A note from Jae
Reiki came into my life while I was running a yoga studio and a great deal of my energy was constantly flowing outward.
I knew I needed something that would help me gather, distil and align my energy—a practice that could create more reciprocity between giving and receiving and help me listen to myself more deeply.
During a yoga training, someone shared Reiki during savasana. The moment she began, I knew I had found my teacher. I changed my plans, flew to Denver and began my Reiki training with her.
More than eight years later, Reiki remains one of the most profound forms of self-discovery in my life. It has given me a way to integrate energy practice into living and a deeper understanding of presence, clarity, choice and the subtle shifts within myself.
I now have the privilege of sharing Shoden, Okuden and Shinpiden, supported by the foundations and traditional Japanese approach of the International House of Reiki.

Your Shoden certification
After completing the training and its supporting practices, you will be certified as a Reiki Shoden Practitioner.
Shoden establishes your personal Reiki practice first. It also gives you a foundation from which you may begin sharing Reiki with family, friends and animals.
Choosing to offer Reiki professionally is an individual pathway. It asks for continued personal practice, experience, ethical conduct and ongoing learning. Reiki practitioners do not diagnose conditions, prescribe treatments or promise particular outcomes.
Those who feel ready may continue into Okuden, Level Two, on 28 and 29 November.
