Reframing Organisations: Attracting volunteers and giving emerging leaders a voice.
Description
Act Local: Reimagining Organisations: Attracting Volunteers & Giving Emerging Leaders a Voice
What if the problem isn't that people don't want to volunteer, but that we need to rethink how we ask them?
This presentation explores how community organisations can attract new people, share responsibilities and build stronger committees by changing the language we use, making volunteering easier and creating opportunities for the next generation.
Using the Northam Hockey Club as a real-life case study, we'll explore how a fresh approach to recruitment, clear role descriptions, succession planning and more flexible ways of contributing helped attract 20 people to the new management group (aka commitee).
We'll also share the early success of the club's new Under-18 Emerging Leaders Group, giving younger members a genuine voice in shaping the club's future.
A practical, honest look at how small changes can make a big difference to volunteer recruitment, engagement and the long-term sustainability of community organisations.
What you'll take away
Practical ideas and simple tools you can adapt for your own organisation, from rewording committee roles and making volunteering less daunting to sharing workloads, planning for succession and involving the next generation in meaningful ways.
The goal?
To leave with a few things you can actually change today, rather than simply hoping more people will join you tomorrow.
